how can we understand the onset of this isolation and melancholy that is often experienced by the elderly?
A unique and personal journey, aging is an intimate phenomenon that is often associated with detachment, despondency and other frailties. It is perceived to serve towards the isolation and diminishing of the intellect, persona and the very state of the being.
This project seeks to explore and understand the nuances of aging and maturity by looking at it from the perspective of our senses and their unique capacities to interact both independently and mutually. Encountering isolation & its emotional influence during the pandemic lockdown made us ponder over this phenomenon all the more. So we began this exploration of this inevitable human condition of senescence with all its nuances.
Looking into how each of our human senses are involved and affected in this process of aging, this line of enquiry eventually led to the idea of the creation of an experimental animated experience, that by sense - hacking through audio - visual elements will contribute to bringing about awareness of this universal occurrence.
